natecooper.net is your portal to nathan cooper. a human living in new york at the present moment. i am interested in design and aesthetics and how they apply and manifest in a variety of media from film and television to painting and architecture to web and graphic design and public transit and data structures.

the present:
continuing my years of experience in digital media, web and video design i freelance in web design and development in addition to my day job at a flagship apple retail store in new york city. there i plan and develop workshops and marketing events for third parties. please see my resume for further details.
the past:
though i was born near bourbonnais ill i moved to stockton ca at the age of seven and spent my growing years in that east-of-the-east-bay valley town. however i spent much of my free time in san francisco, oakland, berkeley and santa cruz. in 1999 i moved to santa cruz to attend school.
i’ve worked in various positions as computer support tech and web designer. previously i’ve been employeed by ucsc first as a teaching assistant (hence my handle ncooperta being my first inital, last name and “ta”: my occupation ) and then in the film production office. as of august of 2006 I’ve been a proud new yorker and a prouder brooklynite.
education:
i graduated from the unviersity of california at santa cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in film and digital media. while at ucsc i was a member of the film production concentration.
the future:
i’m interested in continuing my experience as an organizer and
manager in a field related to media.
ncooperta:
ncooperta has been a handle i’ve used online since around 2003. it’s etymological roots come from an email i used while working as a teaching assistant at the university of california at santa cruz. the handle can be understood as a combination of my first inital and last name [n] + [cooper] and my job at the time [ta]. that job was quite defining for me and ever since i’ve seen myself as a mentor, teacher, trainer of some sort or another. the handle can be seen in most of my contact info.
