Is Jon Stewart Bad for America?

Jon Stewart is bad for America?

Some how I don’t see how the fact that the Daily show “drives down support for political institutions and makes young people more cynical about government” is such a bad thing. Isn’t a more complacent populace better for democracy? This article (if not the study) fails to connect the dots between feeling despondent and not participating in the political process.

If anything its probably good that viewers are cynical. At the very least they are engaged. A contemptuous public is one better driven towards action than apathy.
